Enabling it allows your paired Android device to be interfaced with via the natural text input (not to mention voice input) of Copilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Does this mean the end of Phone Link? Not really. An Android mobile device still needs to be linked to a PC via Phone Link (PC) and the Link Windows app, downloadable from the Google Play Store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s important to note that Microsoft will be retiring Phone Connection at the end of May 2026. You can still use it until then, and like its predecessor, it may become revamped into something new in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-you-need-to-connect\">What You Need to Connect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Phone Connection to run properly, Microsoft has stipulated that users will need the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A linked Android mobile device<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Link Windows app 1.24112.110.0 or higher installed on that device<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A working Microsoft account (the same profile, logged in on both devices)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A signed-in Copilot desktop app (this won\u2019t work on a web-based version)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your phone is already connected to your PC through Phone Link, you should be good to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-link-your-smartphone-and-copilot\">How to Link Your Smartphone and Copilot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enabling Phone Connection once all of the above is sorted out is a cinch. Here\u2019s what you need to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1.<\/strong> Open up the Copilot Desktop App and ensure you\u2019re signed in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2.<\/strong> Click on your user profile and account name. A dropdown menu will appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"338\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-to-Use-Copilot-on-PC-to-Run-Android-Smartphone-2.jpg\" alt=\"How to Use Copilot on PC to Run Android Smartphone 2\" class=\"wp-image-449929\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-to-Use-Copilot-on-PC-to-Run-Android-Smartphone-2.jpg 338w, https:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-to-Use-Copilot-on-PC-to-Run-Android-Smartphone-2-203x300.jpg 203w, https:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-to-Use-Copilot-on-PC-to-Run-Android-Smartphone-2-260x385.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3.<\/strong> You\u2019ll see a toggle saying \u201cPhone connection\u201d provided your Android device is already linked to your PC. If not, the option won\u2019t appear. Toggle this to \u201cOn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 4.<\/strong> Your Copilot should now be able to access your Android device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can stop the connection at any time by toggling this back off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-run-smartphone-with-copilot\">Run Smartphone With Copilot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Phone connection now enabled, you\u2019ll be able to perform a range of functions via Copilot, many shared with Phone Link. Some major ones include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Checking contacts \u2013 You can ask Copilot to provide you with contact details for anyone saved to your phone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check messages \u2013 New message? Perhaps older? A quick prompt can have you checking all of them in a jiffy, even help you smart search by keywords and senders. You can even send messages to contacts. This doesn\u2019t work yet for messaging apps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask for locations \u2013 Copilot can help you search for places on your phone with a quick prompt, even down to the category of location, i.e., shops, restaurants, hospitals, etc. This also extends to navigation, though this is only for certain Samsung smartphones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set and cancel timers \u2013 From your PC, you can ask your phone to set timers with specific names or cancel ongoing ones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see, there are still limits to what Copilot can do. It doesn\u2019t have app access, and so its functions are quite narrow still.
