If you\u2019re wondering why you can\u2019t automatically copy conditional formatting from one sheet in your Excel worksheet to other sheets, there\u2019s a simple explanation. In all Excel versions since Excel 2010, it\u2019s not possible<\/a> to make conditional formatting apply to all sheets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, you\u2019ll have to set the conditional formatting in one sheet and copy it to the others where you want it applied. So when it comes to conditional formatting Excel, apply to all sheets using one of these methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Copy Paste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 1.<\/strong> Select the sheet with the conditional formatting you wish to apply in all sheets in your worksheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2.<\/strong> Copy a cell that contains the formatting you wish to copy (either by pressing CTRL + C or by right-clicking and selecting \u201cCopy\u201d from the context menu).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3.<\/strong> Select the destination sheet where you want to paste the formatting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a more automated workaround, you can record a macro that mimics the process you used to apply the original conditional formatting. You can then run the macro on each additional sheet where you want the formatting applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This method takes longer to set up but can dramatically speed up the process if you need to apply conditional formatting to many sheets. If you have the coding skills, you can write a macro yourself, then save and run it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, you can record a macro manually. Here\u2019s how to do it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1.<\/strong> In the \u201cView\u201d tab, select \u201cMacros,\u201d then \u201cRecord Macro.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
