If you\u2019re getting a message with error code 0xE000005E, it means your app is not syncing correctly. In this article, we\u2019ll be looking at OneNote error 0xE000005E and different ways to get things back in sync.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-fixing-onenote-error-0xe000005e\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fixing OneNote Error 0xE000005E<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The OneNote syncing error 0xE000005E, also known as \u201cReferencedRevisionNotFound\u201d is an issue caused when a notebook can\u2019t sync and is usually a temporary error. If things persist, we\u2019ve got some fixes for you to try below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-obvious-fixes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Obvious Fixes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before anything else, it helps to do some obvious but important preliminary fixes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Restart the OneNote app and perhaps even your PC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check that your machine is connected to the internet and that your internet connection itself is stable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that OneNote and Windows are up to date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-check-your-profile\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check Your Profile<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a particular notebook isn\u2019t syncing, check that the account you\u2019re currently using with OneNote is the correct one. Some users report that logging out and back in again solves the syncing issue as things refresh. To do this, simply click your profile in the top-right corner of the app and log yourself out before signing back in again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-try-the-browser-version\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Try the Browser Version<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If using Microsoft 365, instead of using your desktop app, try the browser version instead. Any browser should do the trick and could help with syncing issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-manually-sync-notebooks\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manually Sync Notebooks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than rely on automatic syncing, you can easily sync any notebook manually by quickly hitting (Shift + F9). You\u2019ll see your remote notebooks listed below. To check that this isn\u2019t the case, try splitting your larger sections into multiple smaller ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-create-a-new-section\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create a New Section<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a notebook fails to sync \u2013 but only a section of it \u2013 you can try copying everything to a new section.
