If it stops running, Windows cannot sign in to or access iSCSI targets through the initiator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It goes without saying that\u2019s a problem. In this article, we\u2019re going to show you fixes to try when the iSCSI service is not running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-causes-this-error\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Causes This Error?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your iSCSI service failed to start or won\u2019t run in general, the issue is usually one to do with network permissions and configurations rather than hardware. Some major causes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The service&#8217;s startup configuration is preventing it from starting when required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your account lacks proper permissions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Windows system-file or configuration corruption affecting the service<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Windows Event Log service is broken<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-iscsi-service-is-not-running-fixes-to-try\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The iSCSI Service is not running \u2013 Fixes to Try<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now you know some of the major reasons; let\u2019s get into the fixes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-start-and-confirm-the-iscsi-status\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start and Confirm the iSCSI Status<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first step is to check the status and startup type of the MSiSCSI service and try starting it.
