Conversation view can display your replies alongside incoming messages, while a rule or another mail-handling setting may be responsible if separate copies are appearing in the Inbox. In other cases, an add-in, a damaged profile, or an outdated Office build could be involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s why you may see sent emails showing up in Inbox, Outlook settings to check, and how to get your sent messages back where they belong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-fix-1-turn-off-conversation-view-or-messages-from-other-folders\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fix 1 \u2013 Turn Off Conversation View or Messages From Other Folders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conversation view groups all emails in a thread together, including the ones you sent from the Sent Items folder. In classic Outlook, a rule of this type may read something like \u201cApply this rule after I send the message \u2026 move a copy to the Inbox folder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1.<\/strong> For classic Outlook, on the \u201cHome\u201d tab, click on \u201cRules,\u201d and go to \u201cManage Rules &amp; Alerts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2.<\/strong> On the \u201cEmail Rules\u201d tab, click each rule and read its description at the bottom of the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3.<\/strong> If a rule applies after sending and moves or copies messages to the Inbox, uncheck it to disable it or click \u201cDelete Rule.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 4.<\/strong> Click \u201cApply\u201d and then \u201cOK.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the new Outlook app, open \u201cSettings\u201d and select \u201cMail\u201d and then \u201cRules.\u201d If you find a rule that redirects or copies sent messages to the Inbox, disable or delete it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-fix-3-make-sure-outlook-saves-copies-to-sent-items\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fix 3 \u2013 Make Sure Outlook Saves Copies to Sent Items<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Outlook isn\u2019t set to save sent emails in the Sent Items folder, they can end up in unexpected places, especially combined with rules or add-ins that handle sent mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1.<\/strong> In classic Outlook, go to \u201cFile\u201d and select \u201cOptions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2.<\/strong> Select \u201cMail\u201d in the left-hand panel and scroll down to the \u201cSave messages\u201d section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3.<\/strong> Check \u201cSave copies of messages in the Sent Items folder,\u201d then click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-fix-4-disable-add-ins-causing-sent-emails-in-inbox\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fix 4 \u2013 Disable Add-ins Causing Sent Emails in Inbox<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some add-ins interact with sent mail and can make copies that can go to seemingly random folders. Disabling them one by one helps find the problematic one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1.<\/strong> Go to \u201cFile,\u201d then to \u201cOptions,\u201d and select \u201cAdd-ins.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2.<\/strong> Next to \u201cManage,\u201d pick \u201cCOM Add-ins\u201d from the drop-down and click \u201cGo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3.<\/strong> Uncheck all add-ins and click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 4.<\/strong> Restart Outlook and send a test email. If the message no longer appears in the Inbox, re-enable the add-ins one at a time, restarting Outlook and testing after each, until the problem returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you find the add-in responsible, keep it disabled, remove it, or contact its developer for an update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-fix-5-create-a-new-outlook-profile\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fix 5 \u2013 Create a New Outlook Profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If none of the settings above explain it, your Outlook profile might be corrupted. Back up any PST files before changing or moving them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-fix-6-update-or-repair-office\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fix 6 \u2013 Update or Repair Office<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An older Office build might have a bug affecting how Outlook handles sent mail, and damaged installation files can cause similar problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1.<\/strong> In classic Outlook, go to \u201cFile\u201d and select \u201cAccount\u201d or \u201cOffice Account.\u201d Under \u201cProduct Information,\u201d select \u201cUpdate Options\u201d and then \u201cUpdate Now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2.<\/strong> If the issue continues, open \u201cSettings,\u201d go to \u201cApps,\u201d and select \u201cInstalled apps,\u201d then click the three-dot menu next to Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office and select \u201cModify.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3.<\/strong> Choose \u201cQuick Repair\u201d first.
