The problem can affect Outlook on the web and the new Outlook app, including accounts used for work or school. Here are some possible causes and troubleshooting steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-causes-the-error-downloading-file-content-in-outlook\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Causes the \u201cError Downloading File Content\u201d in Outlook?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outlook needs to fetch the attachment from Microsoft\u2019s servers before it can preview or save it, so connection problems, service issues, or access restrictions can trigger an error. If that folder gets corrupted, every download can fail with the same error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1.<\/strong> Close Outlook completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2.<\/strong> Press \u201cWin + R,\u201d paste the following path, and hit \u201cEnter\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>%userprofile%\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Olk<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3.<\/strong> Check whether an \u201cAttachments\u201d folder exists. If it is missing, create it.
